20 Oct Really? Tell me another one….
Ever hear the one about the chicken crossing the road? Of course! But this time the chicken was on drugs.
Okay, so you’ve heard that one, too, eh? (We’re not sure the chicken on drugs ever makes it across the road even though he wants to get to the other side.)
And guess what? The truth is, you have probably heard this a million times, too:
Don’t do drugs!
Just like the chicken joke, it can get old.
You trust this website and you trust the information because we try not to tell you WHAT to do. This website provides information so YOU make the right decisions for YOU.
What is the right decision for you?
This is all you are asked to ponder (meaning to think about) as you read these posts.
People will say, “Do drugs,” or, “Don’t do drugs.” One friend might say, “It’s not a big deal.” Another friend might tell you that it was the worst experience ever. How can you sort through what is real and what is not?
The main point of these posts is to challenge you to acquire trusted factual information and then apply it to yourself. That way you can know the facts and determine what is best for you. We can assure you that it’s always better without drug use but we want you to be able to reach that conclusion on your own. To help you draw your own conclusion, think about these areas of your life:
social life
home life
academic life
emotional life
Hobbies, including sports and the arts
character
choices
support systems
What do you see? Is it safe? Are you happy? Are you stressed? Who loves you? How do you feel? What are your goals?
You may feel better about some areas than others, you may even be struggling with a lot of areas, some teens are. But, this post is asking you to think about how drugs might impact your:
social life
home life
academic life
emotional life
Hobbies, including sports and the arts
character
choices
support systems
Because what often happens, is that a person who is struggling with their academics (for example) thinks, “I could take this drug and it will help me get a better grade on my test.” But that person then forgets to think about all the other ways taking that drug will affect their social life, home life, emotional life, passions, character etc.
When the chicken goes to cross the road, it doesn’t just think about one thing on the other side of the road, it thinks about all the things on the other side of the road and all the hazards involved in getting there.
The chicken wants to get to the other side, SAFELY. What are the chances he will make it? How are those chances when he is on drugs?
How will you cross the road? How do your decisions about drugs affect your ability to cross any road in life?
Post Question:
