Anxiety

Updated, June 2018.

I am freaking out. I have a geometry quiz tomorrow and I was up too late working on a computer program, so I really didn’t study and as I was leaving the house my mom reminded me how important all my grades are so now I feel more pressure. I just know I will fail and life as I know it will be over!

Calm down, Steve. It’s just a quiz. And in geometry – you’ll be fine.

No, I won’t, Taylor. I know geometry well enough to know I don’t know the material. And a quiz is serious. It gets weighted into my grade, which counts toward my whole average, which might come down, which might hurt my chances of getting into a good college or finding a great job, which…

Stop! You’re freaking ME out! I’ve never looked at school that way and seeing you like this, I’m glad I haven’t. Seriously, Steve. Get a grip.

Steve normally has a grip, but today he seems anxious about his upcoming quiz because he doesn’t feel prepared and his mother’s comment escalated his worries. Sometimes, even the slightest comment can push us over the edge because we can handle only so much at once. Managing workloads and life commitments can feel overwhelming at times, to anyone!

Of course, we all feel anxious from time to time. So how do you know when it might be a problem? How do you know when you might need a little help managing your anxious feelings? I am anxious very often because of high school. High school is the reason for most of my problems. There is homework, relationships, and etc. I personally think its not that severe because I usually have a way to fix my problem.

I usually do not feel anxious. Except when it comes to school and before soccer and basketball games. For quiz’s and tests I get more anxious then I do for sports though. I do not think that my anxiety is bad at all I do not get it that frequently and when I do it passes quickly.

I feel anxious at severe times of stress which is pretty often for me. I often psych myself out before school, during gym, or even before meeting someone new. Whenever I am anxious, it isn’t as severe as other people may think it is because I don’t lead other people to believe I am anxious. I feel that when I am anxious, I attempt to keep it to myself in fear of people judging what I am anxious about.

I feel anxious pretty much every day, but not extremely severe. I can relate to Steve in which I have a lot of anxiety over my school life and balancing it with everything else going on. I also can relate to him with the way other peoples words affects me. My mom and other family members often say things that will trigger me and make me more anxious.

I feel anxious once in a while. I am like Steve because I tend to be anxious when I have a quiz or test that I didn’t really study for. My anxiety is not severe because I am not anxious that often.

It depends on the situation, I can feel confident in small groups. However, when it comes to big groups of people, I can freak out. Going to concerts or presenting in front of people makes me anxious. When I have games and a lot of people show up that is when I usually feel most anxious.
