28 Jul What is the most important thing to remember?
If you see a situation that requires CPR, you must do two things. Do you know what those two things are?
- Freak out and call a friend?
- Jump on top of the body and start dancing?
- Call 911 and start chest compressions?
Obviously you chose 3 above.
Don’t forget to call 911! Repeat: Don’t forget to call 911!
Whenever you are in a life-threatening situation, make sure you or someone near you calls 911! Even if you are unsure about the situation being dire (meaning, truly being life threatening), call 911!
After you call 911, then you start chest compressions. In 2008, the American Heart Association announced that mouth-to-mouth is no longer necessary to do to help someone whose heart has stopped beating. So, in most situations, CPR is a two step process:
1. Call 911
2. Give chest compressions
