Updated March, 2019.
OMG! Don’t post that picture Nicki. You look awful.
What? I do? Wait, so what? That’s actually how I look, thank you very much.
Yes, but you don’t really want to post that.
Why not? I don’t get it.
Well, you’re posting a picture of you which is part of your image. Do you really want your image to be “girl undone with spinach in her teeth?”
I have spinach in my teeth?
No, but your picture is as bad as if you did. Here let me fix it for you.
No thanks, Taylor. I’m good with posting me, just as me.
What do you post about your self? Do you ever stop to think about it? Do you ever worry about it? Are you aware of how much time you spend on social media? And just what does social media really mean?
These are all questions you will explore in this post. Social media and technology have become such a big and almost natural part of our lives, that we often use it without thinking. It’s there just like the microwave in your kitchen. But when is it best to heat something in the microwave and what shouldn’t we ever put in the microwave? Well, the real answers to those are something you should ask your parents: that was all just an analogy, that just like there’s a a time and place to use a microwave, there’s a time and a place for technology and social media. Let’s make sure you are using it thoughtfully (and not causing your life to explode like that bowl of chili you tried to heat in the microwave).
