Bonus YSS: Birth control

Birth control refers to the various methods people use to avoid pregnancy.

The number one and only reliable method of birth control is to abstain (do not have) from sex. Otherwise various forms of contraception exist.

What exactly does the term contraception mean?

Contraception is:

noun- the deliberate prevention of conception or impregnation by any of various drugs, techniques, or devices; birth control.

Various forms of contraception exist.  Each has its benefits and risks. Some religions do not advocate contraception at all, believing that sex is purely for reproduction. However, many people believe that having sex for pleasure and intimacy reasons is okay.

Many types of contraception not only decrease the risk of pregnancy (remember no method is 100% sure) but also greatly decrease the risk of STD transmission. Only abstinence – not having sex – insures that you will not become (or get someone) pregnant.

or ask your doctor or your parents.  If you are considering sexual acts please be sure to find out what your contraception options are.

ANY TIME YOU HAVE SEX YOU RISK PREGNANCY AND STDS.

CONTRACEPTIONS GREATLY REDUCES THESE RISKS although no contraceptive method is 100% safe against STDs or pregnancy.
