Bullying

Updated June, 2018.

Hey Taylor, why the anxious look on your face?

Who me? Oh, well I’m just, you know, nothing new, just the same old drama.

What do you mean by “drama?” Is that your word for being bullied?

Uh, well, I don’t really want to talk about it.

Well, I can empathize with that.

Empa…what?

Empathize, Taylor. You know when you step outside of your own shoes and stand in someone elses?

Eww… like gross.  I would never trade my Diva-delicious boots for your smelly sneakers.

Not literally, Taylor. When you empathize with another person, you are able to understand what they feel – you see the world from their point of view, and feel something for them. Empathy is an amazing weapon against all this “stuff” you guys are talking about.

In fact, empathy seems to be one of the main traits that sets apart a person who bullies from people who don’t. Moreover, bullies and leaders can have a lot of similarities but bullies do not show empathy, while the best leaders do. For example, ever notice that people who bully are often popular? Many of them can be very personable to teachers and adults. Sometimes people who bully are even protected by teachers because they are star athletes or lead characters in a play. So bullies often have some traits that can put them in a powerful social position, but they often lack empathy which means they are likely to use that power in a harmful way rather than a positive way.

People mostly bully because they feel insecure about themselves

I think people bully people because that person may insecure about themselves, or have been bullied themselves and want to take the frustration out on someone else.

I think the number one reason people are bullied is because they have been bullied themselves at one point, and want to take it out on someone else. For example, some kids aren’t treated well at home which makes them want to bully kids at school to make them feel how they feel. If parents cared about and raised their kids well, a lot less bullying would occur.

The number one reason i think people bully is to get a laugh out of someone who there with. What they say may be funny to them but it may be hurtful to that person who is being made fun of. Also they may say something to prove that there funny to a group of friends when they have nothing good to say.

The number one reason why people bully it because they, the bullies themselves are insecure. Since they are insecure they feel the need to make fun of others about their own problems. They do this to make themselves feel better about their own insecurities.
